After nearly two years of renovations, the landmark The Cliff House restaurant, which originally debuted in 1925, has re-opened to great acclaim. Owner Peppe Nappo's masterful new vision of The Cliff House combines the elements service, style and ambience.  Nestled in the hilltops of Northeast Tacoma, the restaurant boasts positively stunning panoramic views of the Tacoma skyline, the Puget Sound and Mount Rainier.  The view at this location will literally take your breath away.

Manager Derek Timvers couldn't agree more.

"The nice thing about a restaurant is location, location, location," he says. "We have the location part down."

Besides the view, the other great feature is the stunning new interior that lovingly pays homage to Tacoma's history. Framed photos, dishes, signs and furnishings from days past mingle with the beautiful woodwork and modern seating of the restaurant. The establishment has two floors, with a well -appointed bar upstairs and downstairs (and happy hour each day), along with private dining and banquet facilities that are perfect for any special occasions.

Then of course, there is the wonderful food.  Succulent meats, hearty salads and rich desserts - just to name a few - promise you delicious food for a great price.

The Cliff House has something special in store for its dinner patrons during Tacoma Restaurant Week. Diners get to select one of three starters, entrees and desserts, all for $25 during the hours of 3 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

"We wanted to do something special but still have a good value and good presentation," says executive chef Brandon Eckert. "We wanted it to work well for our customers."

And they hit the mark and some with two entrée classics and a new special menu offering.

For the starter choices, there are:

  • The Antipastino, which features cracked Mediterranean olives, hot capicolla, prosciutto, grilled eggplant and fresh mozzarella served with crostini.
  • Tender Fried Calamari.
  • Steamed Manilla Clams

Entrées are the following:

  • Chicken Marsala, which is a pan seared chicken breast sautéed with mushrooms in a Marsala wine sauce, served with garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables.
  • Blackened Salmon Salad, which is mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion and balsamic vinaigrette.
  • (NEW) Guinness Braised Short Ribs, a slow-cooked boneless short rib, finished with a Guinness demi-glaze, with mashed potatoes and seasoned vegetables.

Desserts feature a chocolate lava cake, crème brulee or Profiteroles, a puffed pastry.
