Tacoma Restaurant Week is like a scavenger hunt for food lovers. For 10 whole days, many of Tacoma's finest dining establishments offer a special 3 course menu for $25. Get it, 25<3?  It's a culinary adventure just begging for you to dine your way through Tacoma. Restaurant Week runs Oct. 14-18 and 21-25.

After participating in the inaugural event in April, The Social Bar and Grill is back again. The menu is packed with flavor from start to finish. Their first course options include their ever popular grilled romaine hearts with anchovy, lemon, garlic and parmesan - think Caesar salad but more awesome because you get to use a fork and knife to dig in. Also on the starter list is their chicken Chile tomato and green tamarind Chile con carne.

Intrigued yet? The entree selections features pasta choices for both the meat eater and herbivore, with their pea and mushroom or bacon and mushroom carbonara penne pastas. Add to the list the grilled beef rib eye skewer or my personal favorite, the grilled swordfish skewer. The skewer is made with delectable bits of swordfish, mushroom and green onion, accompanied by house-made roasted potatoes and a mouth watering roasted, pepper-caper chimichurri sauce.

The folks at Social sweeten the deal by allowing Restaurant Week participants to choose any dessert on their menu. Yes, ANY dessert. You can't go wrong with the warmed loco leches banana bread pudding or the plantain tostones, drizzled with a coconut caramel sauce and topped with toasted coconut ice cream.

Aside from the excellent menu items, The Social is a Tacoma gem, featuring views of Thea Foss Waterway and the Museum of Glass. I'd say it's an excellent starting point to your culinary journey through Tacoma.
