Thing: Vanilla Bean Marshmallows

Covered in: Chocolate

And sometimes: Caramel

And also: Nuts, toffee

Made by: Breeze Wetzel

In: Bonney Lake

Breeze's assistant: Madyson

Madyson is: 5 years old

She probably: Cooks better than me

Do I care: No

Will I eat the marshmallows regardless: Damn straight

Since Christmastime 2008, Madyson's Marshmallows has been cooking up candy goodies from a certified kitchen in Bonney Lake. What started as a child's curiosity about how marshmallows are made soon turned into selling sugar to the masses.

After perfecting a secret recipe, which shall forever remain under lock and key (I tried to trick her into telling me), Breeze Wetzel began to take orders from friends and family - this was the genesis of Madyson's Marshmallows. The first Christmas in business, 2008, the operation had orders which amounted to creating 1000 hand-made marshmallows. Only two years later, Christmastime 2010, the order total was somewhere around 6000.

Breeze Wetzel admits to being a "two-woman show" and suffering from the inevitable growing pains that come with running a successful entrepreneurial business. Although the business' namesake, Wetzel's 5-year-old daughter Madyson, works every Saturday in the kitchen with her mom, there are times when Wetzel is all alone in the venture. Cartwheels become a child's priority, she says, while stirring batches of goo ... not so much.

The fact is (and the reason I am bringing this hidden gem of a candy store to your attention) that this is about more than just marshmallows. It is about a woman starting her own business with her family, and most importantly ...

It's about dipping s*** in CHOCOLATE.

Dammit! The whole time I was writing this thing I was trying to be respectful while reaching important points about how the business started ... but all I can think about is CHOCOLATE

Check it: There are giant s'mores candy bars filled with marshmallows and graham crackers. There are marshmallows dipped in chocolate and then covered with things liked smoked salt and toffee. Wetzel even makes marshmallows filled with peanut butter and chocolate chips that melt all together over fire. Can you even begin to imagine the food orgasm you would have after creating a s'more with that marshmallow?

No, you can't. Which is why I need you to go check out the pictures on the website (madysonsmarshmallows.com). As with most people who finish reading anything I write, you will either love me or hate me after this.
