Tacoma Beer Week takes place Aug. 1-6, highlighting Tacoma breweries and their many world-class beers. Meet local brewers, learn about the making of craft beer, and help support local businesses that are dedicated to our community.

The week will feature events at a variety of venues around Tacoma with tickets available to each one separately so you can mix and match - creating your own craft beer adventure from a night celebrating The Beatles and brews at The Copper Door Aug. 1 to the Silver City Putt Putt Tournament Aug. 4 at Tower Lanes, featuring a putt-putt golf tournament and Silver City Brewery beer.

Six different events are scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 6, including the 3-Way Brewer's Night with Fort George, Melvin & Barley Brown at The Copper Door in Tacoma.  Starting at 6 p.m., this IPA-specific event will feature eight specialty and rare beers on-tap, including a featured collaboration brew from the three brewers.  Prizes and giveaways will occur throughout the evening, so be sure to arrive early.

If you are a trivia fan, you'll want to check out Trivia Night with host Keith Wheaton Thursday, Aug. 4, starting at 6 p.m. at Pacific Brewing & Malting Co., 610 Pacific Ave. in Tacoma.  There will be prizes, giveaways and of course, quality craft beer to keep the trivia rolling.

The week finishes strong Saturday, Aug. 6, with the Beer Fest of Destiny at Wingman Brewers in Tacoma taking place from noon to 6 p.m.  The festival includes beer tasting from a wide variety of local breweries, a beer garden, live music and onsite food trucks.  Tickets are available online through Eventbrite.com and are $20 for beer tasting and entry or $8 at the door for entry to the beer garden on its own.

The full calendar of events is available on the Tacoma Beer Week website at www.tacomabeerweek.com.

Oly Brew Fest

On Saturday, Aug. 6 from 1 to 8:30 p.m., head to Olympia for the annual Oly Brew Fest, taking place at the Port Plaza, along the waterfront near the Olympia Farmer's Market.  This picturesque outdoor venue, along the shores of Puget Sound, is the perfect place to spend a summer afternoon and evening, sipping beer and cider with friends.

Attended by more than 3,000 people each year, the festival features more than 30 unique micro and craft breweries from throughout Washington and Oregon.  Many of the beers available for tasting at Oly Brew Fest are not available at other festivals, making it the perfect reason to plan a visit.

Tickets are $25 online at www.olybrewfest.com and $30 at the door, with discounts for military, police and firefighters.  Bring a designated driver for just $5, which will provide them entry and a soda and water, and make sure everyone gets home safe.  Although tickets may be available at the door, it's recommended to purchase them in advance from the website so they don't sell out before you arrive.

Live music will keep the party rolling until 8:30 p.m. and the Governor Hotel in Olympia has a 15 percent off promotion running if you plan to stay the weekend to take in the festival.  Check www.olybrewfest.com for the promo code, to buy tickets, or learn more about Brew Fest.
