Veterans Day activities in the South Sound this year include parades, competitions, and observances beginning as early as the first week in November. The following is a brief list:
- Puyallup's Veterans Day Observance, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m., Pioneer Park Pavilion, 330 S. Meridian, Puyallup.
Admission is free. Come see performances by The Tapestry Singers and Puyallup Valley Community Band as they pay tribute to active duty military, veterans, and Armed Forces personnel. Call (360) 893-8022 for details.
· 62nd Annual Veterans Day Memorial Celebration with Evergreen Washelli, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m., 11111 Aurora Ave., North Seattle.
Flag placement begins at 7 a.m. at the Lower Veterans Memorial Cemetery followed by the music of the Chimes Tower and the Eagles & Letter-Carriers Band. The Service of Remembrance will be held at the Doughboy statue at the base of the Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 11 a.m. Call (206) 362-5200 or visit www.washelli.com for details.
- Sharing Memories: Veterans Day at the Washington State History Museum, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m., 1911 Pacific Ave., Tacoma.
Admission is free for active duty and retired military and their families. The museum will commemorate Veterans Day with readings and a series of recollections written by or about military Servicemembers, past and present. For details, call(253) 272-3500 and visit www.washingtonhistory.org. - Veterans Day Jump at Pump it Up Tacoma, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 3610 S. Pine St., Tacoma.
Children ages 4 to 12 are welcome at the drop-off event. Admission is $10 and includes pizza, drinks, balloons, games and more. "The inflatable party zone" has bounce houses, inflatable slides and tons of fun. Space is limited so register early. Call (253) 752-5867 or see www.pumpitupparty.com.
- Veterans Day at Tacoma's War Memorial Park, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m., 6th Ave. and MacArthur Street, Tacoma.
