The newly expanded and upgraded Joint Base Lewis-McChord Exchange celebrated its Grand Reopening Sept. 28.

"The modern look and name brands in the main store, mall and food court make the complex look and feel like a shopping center our customers would see outside of the gate," stated Keiana Holleman, a public relations specialist with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service. "The Exchange is a hard-earned benefit. Those who wear the uniform sacrifice so much, and the Exchange is honored to be a partner in readiness and resiliency."

As the Department of Defense's largest retailer, the Exchange offers tax-free shopping and military exclusive pricing to more than 345,000 active-duty service members, their families, military retirees, service-connected disabled veterans and DoD/Coast Guard civilians in the Seattle-Tacoma area.

But closer to home, the renovations added more than 122,000 square feet to the shopping center and another 22,200 square feet to the main PX store. The renovation began on the now expanded 295,000 square foot shopping center in 2018 and cost $72.6 million.

"We offer a safe and modern shopping experience," added Matthew Beatty, the JBLM Exchange manager added.

The upgrades include a larger main PX department store as well as new flooring, lighting and fixtures throughout the shopping center.

The expanded shopping center features:

  • A Military Clothing store
  • A Class Six store
  • A new food court including Slim Chickens, Subway, Arby's, Auntie Anne's, and Charleys Cheesesteaks in the food court
  • Starbuck's 100th military location
  • The first Petco on a military installation
  • The Exchange's first Bath & Body Works shop worldwide
  • Plus beauty, barber and optical shops: an eyebrow threading service, U.S. Patriot Tactical, GNC, Wireless Advocated, a watch and jewelry repair store, Soleil Nail and Spa, The UPS store, GameStop, Turkish Carpets & Gifts, Stripes Alterations shop and laundry and dry cleaners.

The first CONUS Wahlburgers is in the planning stages for the JBLM Exchange.

With over 345,000 active-duty service members, family members, retirees, disabled veterans and Department of Defense/Coast Guard civilians in the Puget Sound area, the new Exchange welcomes them.

"This Exchange serves those who have and continue to serve us," concluded Beatty.
