JOINT BASE LEWIS-McCHORD -The Army and Air Force Exchange Service opened a brand-new Arby's this week at the Lewis Main Exchange shopping center.

Part of an ongoing mall and food court upgrade, Arby's offers slow-cooked and freshly sliced meats and BE FIT options. Lewis' Subway, Charley's Philly Steaks and Auntie Anne's locations have relocated to join Arby's in the new food court, while US Patriot Tactical and UPS have relocated from the old mini mall to the shopping center mall area. GNC has also reopened at its new location in the shopping center.

The full shopping center upgrade is expected to complete in 2021.

"The Exchange is privileged to serve those who serve with the national name brands they know and love," said Joint Base Lewis McChord Exchange General Manager Mike Einer. "We are excited for service members and their families to enjoy the completed shopping center and food court next year."

Other upcoming mall additions include a base pharmacy and MAC Cosmetics. A brand-new Slim Chickens will open at the food court next year.

Most of the $70 million upgrade is being funded by the Exchange, with $2 million contributed by the services to support the Military Clothing Store and the base pharmacy.

One hundred percent of Exchange earnings are reinvested in the military community through support for on-base Quality-of-Life programs, as well as capital improvements such as the new shopping center. In 2019, JBLM Exchange shoppers generated more than $4.3 million for Quality-of-Life programs that promote readiness and resiliency at the base.

The Lewis Main Exchange is at Building 5280, Pendleton Avenue. Arby's is open 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
