Morale-boosting, team-building, and professional development were the focus of Team McChord's Wingman Day, Nov. 15.

"The previous Wingman Day had more than 1,000 seats in classes and workshops ranging from running to financial planning and squadrons devoted time to everything from picnics to kickball games," said John Tobin, 62nd Airlift Wing (AW) joint base liaison officer.

The latest Wingman Day kicked off with a commander's all-call, where Col. Scovill Currin, 62nd AW commander, addressed the wing for his last time as its commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Rob Schultz, 62nd AW command chief, spoke to McChord airmen for the first time en masse as their command chief.

"It's been an absolute honor and privilege to lead you, to watch you succeed; you really have been the highlight of my career," Currin said. "Short of my family, you all are the reason I get up in the morning and try to do the best I can."

Following the all-call, airmen had the opportunity to attend a variety of classes offered across McChord covering many different topics. There were classes offered on home ownership and parenting to mindfulness and managing expectations.

"Wingman Day provided a great opportunity to put work on pause and renew my outlook," said Senior Airman Jordan Wenta, 627th Communications Squadron client systems technician. "I went to an expectations management class that reminded me that nobody is a mind reader and that I should empathize with my fellow airmen. The opportunity to pause and reflect was refreshing."

Wingman Days bring attention to airmen the importance of taking care of those around them and what it means to be a U.S. Air Force wingman.

"I'm so proud to work alongside you; I'm proud to serve with you," Schultz said. "This is what Wingman Day is all about."
