The Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) annual Military Retiree Appreciation Day event will take place Friday, May 17, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at American Lake Conference Center. The event will provide services and information of interest to military retirees, and lots of giveaways and door prizes.

Madigan Army Medical Center will host a health fair. Representatives from the Social Security Administration, VA, TRICARE, Delta Dental and many more agencies will be on hand. Services offered include oral cancer screenings, and vascular and foot health.

Attendees can have ID cards issued or replaced and update their information in DEERS. Make sure to bring your DD214 and any other documents needed to verify your information such as a marriage certificate. The Legal Assistance Station can help with free preparation of wills and powers of attorney. Representatives from I Corps and JBLM Staff Judge Advocate's Office will answer legal questions.

A representative from the Washington Dept. of Veterans Affairs will offer a Compensation Review Station for veterans who wish to initiate or increase their disability rating. They can explain the new or expanded benefits created by recent changes in federal law for retirees with service-connected disabilities (bring DD214 and information about any other VA benefits received).

Attendees are invited on a bus tour of JBLM and the Lewis Army Museum. Transportation is provided and seating is limited to the first 54 participants. Tour runs from 1-4 p.m.
