JBLM soldier wins title

SSgt. Eric Mack, a Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier, won last weekend's PAX West Street Fighter V eSports championship.

Spc. Mikaul McDermid, Sgt. Kalyntae Williams, and 2Lt. Ryan Deopante took second, third and fourth place, respectively.

Mack's victory earned him a two-night stay at the Mandalay Bay resort in Las Vegas along with a $500 gift card, an Army eSports jersey, a commemorative coin and Twitch gear.

"There are practical applications to eSports and how soldiers perform their duties," 2Lt. Ryan Deopante said, during a scrimmage last week."

"It's all for the good."

Seven of the eight soldiers who competed in the PAX West Street Fighter V championship last weekend in Seattle, in no particular order: 2Lt. Ryan Deopante (Fort Bliss), Spc.
