Camo2Commerce is offering two new training programs for military spouses.

"Camo2Commerce is honoring the year of the spouse by launching two competitive cohorts for training in two different focus areas: nonprofit fundraising and entrepreneurship," said Michele Helfgott-Waters, Camo2Commerce Education/Special Projects Program Manager. "There is no charge to participate in these cohorts. There is a competitive application process. The fundraising cohort provides national recognized certification and the entrepreneurship provides training leading to creating a business plan as well as obtaining a business license".

"The Work Ex Internship Program is an internship program tailored to introduce military spouses back into the civilian workforce by providing exposure to industry requirements while gaining hands-on experience and meeting specific employer needs, and allows acclimation to the company culture.  Many military spouses have left prominent careers to "follow their soldier," and have found themselves out of the workforce for a period of time. Military spouses bring their own specialized set of skills that will enhance their value to a company. Many are adept problem-solvers and logisticians. Spouses in the Work Ex Internship program allows them to intern and gain valuable work experience for a 12-week period of time in a wide variety of industries. Spouses are paid during their internship opportunity," Helfgott-Waters said.

The dates, times and locations are being finalized with a tentative start date of late August. For more information on the programs, contact Michele Helfgott-Waters, 253.477.4080 or mhelfgottwaters@thurstonchamber.com
