Friday, March 16 at 5:30 p.m., the Lewis Community Spouses' Club (LCSC) will host their annual charity event (A.C.E.), A Roaring Good Time, at the American Lake Conference Center on Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). The event is the largest fundraiser of the year for the club.

Auction Chair Julia Bowers and her committee are working very hard to ensure the event's success.

"All of our proceeds will be donated back into the community through scholarships and grants," she said. "It is a very worthy cause filled with food, silent and live auctions, as well as many games. It's going to be a ‘roaring good time'."

Bowers encourages everyone to purchase their tickets as soon as possible. The 2017 event was very popular and the club expects the tickets to sell out.

Each year, LCSC provides monetary support to many charities and organizations through their community grants program. The funds are given as grants to organizations that support military families at JBLM and surrounding communities. The largest donations are given to the Fort Lewis Family Member Scholarship Fund, which provides college scholarships to military family members. In addition, LCSC hopes to fund the Claire Marsh Scholarship for Military Spouses again this year. In 2017, this scholarship was awarded to a deserving military spouse in the amount of $10,000.

"A.C.E. Night is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a fun evening while supporting the Lewis Community Spouses' Club's mission: impacting our community," said Serena West, LCSC president.

Donations needed

LCSC is seeking donations for the live and silent auction. The club can use hotel vouchers, a week at a vacation rental, gift cards, restaurant gift certificates, artwork and new items. No item is too small. After Christmas is a great time to donate unwanted gifts, leftover tissue paper, ribbon and baskets for use at the auction. Many small items can be combined with gift certificates to make highly sought after auction baskets. The event will also include some games with wine, beer and spirits as prizes. The club is accepting donations of these items as well. Go to the website listed below and fill out a donation form. An LCSC member will be in touch to arrange pick-up of items.
