It's been a year since Pacific Medical Centers opened its Lakewood location, promising a special niche for military personnel in the Joint Base Lewis-McChord area. It seems as though the company has delivered, as its popularity within the military community has been strong and well justified. With guaranteed same-day appointments and the acceptance of TriCare and US Family Health Plan (USFHP), this PacMed promise continues to lure in soldiers and their families who don't have the luxury of waiting weeks for an appointment through Madigan.

To celebrate its one-year milestone, PacMed held a two-hour open house event May 18 at its Lakewood location. The event offered tours of the facility, a Q&A session, meet-and-greets with clinic staff, and edible delights for attendees.

"The open house was a celebration of a successful year here in Lakewood.  We wanted our community to come see our facility, meet our staff and providers, and see how proud we are to be able to serve them with their healthcare needs," enthused PacMed practice manager Jodi Larsen. "We feel we have been very successful in creating an environment of healing and health for everyone, but especially our military families!"

The Lakewood branch of PacMed offers a number of amenities for its patients. "This location is ideally located in Lakewood in a beautifully remodeled location with ample parking, and we are located on the bus line." Larsen continued, "We have same day appointments, a large physical therapy gym, a lab onsite, radiology close enough to walk to and extended hours."

Additionally, the clinic offers other advantages, including: spacious exam rooms, birth control consultations, diabetic coaching, assistive devices for all impairments, and even language translation services. Friendly, accommodating staff, a comfortable waiting room, and large windows with a view of majestic Mount Rainier doesn't hurt, either. The location has taken it upon itself to provide most major health-related services to all patients; the option of potentially avoiding a visit to the ER a welcomed advantage to those seeking treatment.

Although the clinic is already a beacon of quality care, variety and convenience, PacMed has plans to take these initiatives to the next level. Larsen declared, "Our goals are to extend our hours even further to meet the community's needs. We will be adding Behavioral Health to our team and look forward to serving the needs of our soldiers and their families. We are also adding Palliative Care support for those patients who may have a life-limiting illness."

What else does PacMed have in store for its flourishing Lakewood location? Larsen sums up the philosophy for the future: "Lakewood is here to partner with each patient to help enable them to live their healthiest and best lives. We look forward to serving this community for many years to come!"

Having inconvenient symptoms, or intolerable pain? Consider visiting Pacific Medical Centers' Lakewood clinic in lieu of waiting for an opening elsewhere. Here, appointments - and consequently relief - can both be had on the same day.
