VFW Post to hold annual Spring bazaar

By Heather Short on April 7, 2016

An annual local favorite will be returning to Olympia. The VFW Post 318 Auxiliary will be hosting their Spring Bazaar Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Event organizer Darcy Mugartegui is excited to share the new changes to the bazaar this year. "Over fifty percent of our vendors are new to the bazaar this year," she said. "We have really revamped the entire Spring Bazaar."

The Spring Bazaar will feature community favorites as well as several new vendors making their debut. There will be a bake sale full of delicious goodies with proceeds going directly towards the Auxiliary. The bazaar will have soup and sandwich lunch items available for hungry patrons to purchase. The community is invited to come visit and see the truly impressive variety of vendors that will be there. Booths will feature everything from unique, homemade jewelry, pet supplies, photography, and even custom made shirts. "We wanted to have a very artisan type feel to the bazaar this year," said Mugartegui. "The homemade jewelry includes beautiful pieces made from amber."

The Veterans Council will also have a booth as well as the USO. The Auxiliary has been known to be the largest supporter of the USO in the area, which they are incredibly proud of. People will find beautifully created quilts, table runners and tote bags at the Spring Bazaar. While many of the vendors will offer exquisitly handcrafted items, booths at the Spring Bazaar will also offer items such as Scentsy, Mary Kay, and Tupperware. "We will also have chair massages available," said Mugartegui. "We are really excited for that."

The Auxiliary has recently undergone changes from being women's-only auxiliary to being unisex. Proceeds from both the lunch and bake sales will go towards purchasing new supplies for the Auxiliary. "We are replacing all the signs that said ladies only," said Mugartegui. "The new flag that we need costs an upwards of $900, and these fundraisers will help us be able to get one."

The Spring Bazaar will be held at the Ira C. Carter VFW Post 318 located at 2902 Martin Way E. in Olympia. For more information, please call Darcy Mugartegui at 360.791.2412.
