Making friends in school is hard. Throw in the added wrench of moving every few years, and making lasting friendships can seem nearly impossible. But this is just one challenge that today's military children face. Moving, starting a new school, making new friends, all while coping with a parent who's deployed, and doing it with a smile is asking a lot of today's military child. But these children are not forgotten.

There's one person, Trevor Romain, award-winning TV personality and children's book author, whose life's mission is to give kids the tools to be able to manage what military kids go through and spread his message all over the country hoping to change one life at a time.

Holy Family School in Lacey recently hosted this presentation. All were eager to learn about what military kids face today. Trevor began with his heartfelt stories from working with children and encouraged the students to open their eyes, and hearts to those around them. Kids listened to every word, but it was Trevor's award-winning animated film that had kids laughing and smiling. The film followed three military kids facing problems like dual parent deployments and finding friends in new schools. Add some hilarious and relatable animated animals like a unicorn who farts rainbows when she's nervous and a sloth who is just so slow to the mix and the kids were in stitches. "I loved it," said Emily Forbes, a student at Holy Family School, whose parents are military retirees. "I thought it was great because I am a military child and so making a funny video makes you laugh and makes it easier to talk about a difficult subject."

Each military child received a free kit from The Comfort Crew for Military Kids and the USO and contained six full-length episodes of Trevor's award winning PBS TV series including Bullies are a Pain in the Brain and How to do Homework without Throwing Up. The older kids received a journal.

The With You All the Way! Tour is a free presentation and available to any school who would like to provide their students with an insight into the military experience.
