In 2003, Master Sgt. Traci Williams needed a way to not only support and have the ability to watch her hometown favorite, Seattle Seahawks, but also wanted her fellow servicemembers to be able to better support the Seahawks as well.

So marked the birth of the Military Sea Hawkers.

The official military booster club for the Seattle Seahawks, Military Sea Hawkers, has steadily grown since then and has become a primary outlet for deployed soldiers, veterans, families and all other servicemembers to watch every game, no matter where they're located.

Along with providing an outlet for servicemembers to become more involved with their favorite NFL team, the Military Sea Hawkers club also provides complimentary and at-cost tickets to their members to help combat over-priced resale tickets.

The Military Sea Hawkers and Seattle Seahawks kicked their #SeahawksSalute (their official social media hashtag) campaign into overdrive last season with more than 3,000 social media mentions just from last season, a home game visit from Medal of Honor Recipient Clint Romesha, flying a servicemember out to the Super Bowl and other away games and by also posting many of the submitted military images on the big screens at CenturyLink during games.

The club accepts images from servicemembers via email and social media and then posts them on the big screen.

Every home game last season featured a military family walking onto the field during the first break of the third quarter to salute their deployed servicemember and receive recognition for their family member's sacrifice.

The club also has a club photographer at every home game to capture the images of the Seahawks flag waving, on-field reenlistments and national anthem ceremonies, who then posts them onto their facebook site; www.facebook.com/MilitarySeaHawkers.

Even with the Seahawks success, the organization still has continued to increase their military outreach with examples of the Washington National Guard convoying the players during the Super Parade, continued growth of their annual Military Appreciation Game and even a new military-only section to open next season.

If you're a servicemember and you want to distinguish your military fandom from the civilian Seahawks apparel, then the Military Sea Hawkers have you covered with specialized Military Sea Hawkers merchandise, such as a military coin and snapback hat.

Other benefits to becoming a member include weekly newsletters, merchandise, special military events, and the ability to organize game-day tailgate parties close to the stadium.

Interested servicemembers can contact or join the booster club at no cost through the Military Sea Hawkers website at www.militaryseahawkers.com.
