Ex-Fender's bartender Rachel now pours a mean one at Taboo nightclub in downtown Tacoma. A bunch of peeps went down to show her some love. Lurid's front man Tony showed up after closing Jazzbones. Kevin of Fender's fame and other friends took up seats at the bar. Some crazy kid did the white boy dance on the bar. Rachel's killer strong drinks had me talking too loud almost immediately. Big Man and I chatted about a couple of bands coming up from Los Angeles till I couldn't tolerate the blaring hip-hop any longer and called it a night.

Met The Frenchman and McBria at Jazzbones for some Patron Silver before heading to Bob's Java Jive for karaoke. Naja and her guy were there. We joined them in some rousing songs. The karaoke host seemed to be having more fun (read: PBRs) than anyone else, but he was a good sport about our demanding to sing past 1:30 a.m. Thanks, Dave, for letting us sing those last five songs.

Drove my limping car to Fremont again to check out the band Trepan. They rocked. Comolli's sister's birthday get-together was hysterical. Sally's friends from Frisco showed up right as we returned from the bar, and a pleasant after hours at Comolli's ensued, mostly consisting of standing in the kitchen doing mock model poses for pictures against their red wall.

After many secret missions with Blue to take care of birthday details, Rose's surprise party at Meconi's went off splendidly. She had no idea what she was in for when they walked in. Friends and family toasted her. The highlight: the Journey cake with black and red frosting and a photo collage of Steve Perry on it. All of our tongues were black from the icing. GG looked stunning in svelte jeans showing her long, long legs. Rose's birthday shirt that Blue made bore the words: "She's Dirty and She's Flirty and Now She's 30." It ruled.

A nightcap at Magoo's brought us all to 11 (Roccoma knows). I must say bartender Jamie makes the finest Manhattans in town.
