Monday, Sept. 27

If someone had told me THE HARVESTER has live music in their lounge I would have called them a liar, but this week I found out it's true.  James and Billy from HILBORNE do an acoustic act every other Monday at 6:45 p.m.-ish (We'll talk about the "ish" next week). The smoky room became too much for me, so GOAT BOY, BEN FROM FEAR TRAIN CARAVAN and I headed for PANAMONICA'S to catch NATHAN KIRBY perform his acoustic blues rock.  A lot of O'Malley's patrons were in attendance.  My favorite song was Kirby's cover of "Walkin' On Sunshine."  I got an autographed CD. Yeah me!

Wednesday, Sept. 29

I met fellow writer friend GO MUSIC at 9:45 p.m. to see Roger Cline and The Peace Makers at FENDERS ROCK CLUB. The band had just started, and I whopped Go Music two pool games in a row.  Co-owner KEVIN popped in with Goat Boy in tow and then kindly bought us all drinks.  I am continuously amazed at how quickly I can drink a tall vodka and 7.  Around the last slurp, I got the itch to switch locations and talked Rosati and Go Music into hitting the Kitchen.  What a wasted drive! This horrible metal band was torturing the few Kitchen customers willing to stay. We couldn't leave fast enough. Even the Kicthen's own  TALL AND DELICIOUS hated the band.

The last day of my birth month was singularly uneventful.  I looked forward to going to RADICAL JAZZ UPRISING and Spoken Word night at SHAKABRAH JAVA.  I pulled up and there were three people holding up the building smoking cigs with no one inside. My girlfriend DUCHESS OF PUNK with star tattoos behind her ears works at Shakabrah.

I'm like, "Hey, what the F*#!?"

And she's like, "There's never been a jazz/poetry night here."

And then I'm like, "Whoa, but the flyer posted on the window says ..."

And she's like, "No, sorry, but no."

She frothed up a tasty vanilla latte for me, and I came down off my Miffed Valley Girl high and hung with her for bit.  Seems the Duchess of Punk has a maddening crush on a HOT ROCK BAND GUY who lives in the Park Tower Apartments. Apparently they can see each other from their windows and commonly leave the blinds up and lights blaring.  Voyeur Oyeur Ra Ra Ra.  With that lovely story, I went to watch "Endless Sunshine of the Spotless Mind."  Wow, what a great flick.

Friday, Oct. 1

THE GREEK FESTIVAL means summer is over. Chicken souvlaki, dolmades, tzatziki and lamb are my favorites.  I also love belly dancing and Ouzo. It's not surprising the two go so well together, but then, WHISKEY AND DANCING TOPLESS on coffee tables has gone well for me in the past before, too.  HELL'S KITCHEN hosted WHO CARE'S BOOB FEST (cabaret and game night), and I'd love to tell you about it, but the night is like Vegas: What happens at Boob Fest stays at Boob Fest.  Hot blond guy SMOOTH was there. Weeee!
