Zak Carter knows a thing or two about being involved with a political campaign and organizing events. His latest venture, the Rock The Revolution Tour, is easily the most ambitious undertaking yet.
Rock The Revolution Tour began as a simple inquiry Carter posted on the The Daily Paul - the official website of Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul.
"The idea to have a national tour, with bands and guest speakers in support of Ron Paul was not mine, originally," said Carter. "However, after learning of the idea, I decided to see if there might be any support behind such an event, and there was - overwhelmingly so."
Carter is certainly not a newcomer to political campaigns. In 2009, he served as social media manager to U.S. Senatorial candidate Chris Simcox. The following year, he assisted John Dennis in his campaign for California's Eighth Congressional District against Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
To best understand Carter's political passion, it is crucial to understand the military experiences that led him to launch an event such as the Rock The Revolution Tour.
Carter grew up here in the Pacific Northwest, and even as a young boy always felt called to serve his country, with both of his grandfathers sharing stories and memories from World War II that stuck with him into adulthood. Following his patriotic convictions, Carter enlisted in the Army in early 2001.
In 2003, Carter and the rest of his platoon deployed as part of the "first wave" of the increased occupation in Iraq. Within the first three weeks, Carter came to realize what he felt a lot of U.S. troops have discovered abroad: people across the globe - in Iraq and elsewhere - are just that, people. It is from his experiences talking with the people in Iraq, sharing meals with Iraqi families, and even playing soccer with the Iraqi children, that brought home the idea that all human beings, given the chance, would want a safe place to live and raise their families.
Upon his arrival back to the U.S., Carter's interest to get involved with politics stemmed from the stark impression gained abroad that we are all human at the core, and that each country should look after its own as best as possible.
"I feel it's imperative America's government get back to its constitutional core by not acting as the police of the world, but rather (placing) primary focus back on its own people and country," Carter said in an interview last week. He comes across as a man who isn't pushy or salesman-like when sharing his political views, but rather one who is resolute in his beliefs and convictions, earnest to do what he can to change things for the better.
The Rock The Revolution Tour was born as an inquiry on the Internet, but maintains a grassroots-born style in its execution. Those following Ron Paul are already familiar with the success with which Dr. Paul has had in his door-to-door, word-of-mouth campaign. With an eclectic mix of musical acts, including KRS One, and guest speakers involved with the tour, Carter is intent on bringing together people from all different generations and backgrounds, city by city.
"I wanted to do something unique," Carter said. "When it comes to the mainstream media, there's definitely more of a focus on the looks of a particular candidate, or the latest scandals, with hardly any focus on topics actually pertinent to a candidate's platform. I wanted to ‘shock the system' by putting the focus on Dr. Paul's actual views and stances, and highlight the amount of support Ron Paul actually has in America."

Ron Paul is delusional... but consistent... he'd remove federal taxes but the burden would shift to state and counties who would raise taxes, maybe even more than the feds.
The REAL problem is outlined by Lawrence Lessig in his book "Republic Lost" -- tinyurl.com/3mdlcrd??
According to Lessig, it's not the top 1%, it's the top .05% that control Washington and just changing parties every 4-8 years does zip.
