The Pierce Military Business Alliance presented checks to local military support groups Tuesday during the Lakewood Area Chamber of Commerce's Military Affairs Committee meeting at Burs Restaurant.

Retired Maj. Gen. John Hemphill receives a check for $5,000 on behalf of the Fort Lewis Chapter of the Association of the United States Army.

Col. Mike Johnson, commander of the Washington National Guard's J-9 office accepts a check for $3,000 to support AUSA's Minuteman Subchapter at Camp Murray.
