Sweet-tooths were satisfied a few days shy of Santa's arrival when America's Credit Union employees went above and beyond to spread a little extra holiday cheer. For the second year in a row, staff from ACU made impromptu cookie deliveries to base employees and organizations.

"It started because we were discussing the jobs that require people to work on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day," explained ACU main branch manager Shannon Carter. "Whether they were required to work or volunteered, are Soldiers or contractors, it is still a big deal that they work that day and night."

The deliveries are not pre-arranged, so although they set out to visit certain spots (the Fisher House, Military Police stations, the fire houses) it all depends if someone is there to accept. Plus, Carter said, they will drive around and then notice another place where staff will be stuck - like the base gates or out on the flight lines.

"I especially thought of the gate guards," said Carter. "I grew up in the military and I remember seeing those guys out there no matter what the holiday."

"This is just our simple way to say thank you and show appreciation," she concluded. ACU staff personally made all of the baked goods, which included not only the proverbial cookies, but also breads, cupcakes and more.
