Care Team training tonight

MICHAEL SWAN: BLESS THEIR HEARTS >>>

Care Team training will take place on tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Waller Hall in the main briefing room.

A Care Team is a group of two to three volunteers, trained to assist families through their greatest sacrifice, the loss of a loved one. Care Teams are designed to assist and support these families, filling the gap between notification and arrival of their personal support system.

To register, e-mail pamela.j.allen@conus.army.mil or call 253.967.8430. Child care is available with prior reservation by calling Clarkmoor Hourly Care at 253.966.2490. Children must be registered with CYSS.

Memorial Day events

TYLER HEMSTREET: PLAN AHEAD >>>

Every year, Memorial Day commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. It was first enacted to honor Union soldiers of the Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the civil war) and it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action. In addition to a national moment of remembrance - which will be observed Monday at 3 p.m. - there are various events going on across western Washington. Here is a sample of a few.
