At 28, Stacy Jones has released five CDs, played hundreds of shows and won multiple awards, including Washington Blues Society's "Best Female Vocalist of the Year" in 2010.

Way to go girl! Shoot, by the time I was 28, my finest accomplishments were popping out two little hellions and developing a taste for straight shots of Maker's Mark. 

Anyway, back to Jones. Her band will play Jazzbones Sunday, along with six other artists and bands as part of the "Back to Beale Street Blues" benefit for the South Sound Blues Association, or SSBA, to send its "band of the year" winners - House of Bourbon and Blues Redemption - to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tenn. in January.

"All the bands are doing this for free," says Gary Grape, president of SSBA, "I'm always amazed at the way Northwest groups support each other. The way they give back is really cool."

The Stacy Jones Band is a collaboration between Stacy Jones, (lead vocals, songwriting, guitar, keyboard, harmonica), her father, Tom Jones (bass, songwriting, vocals), Jeff Menteer (guitar, songwriting, vocals) and Rick J Bowen (percussion, songwriting, vocals).

Finding a flow of funk, blues, rock and jazz appears to come easy to The Stacy Jones Band. Its presence, talent and raw soul weave seamlessly on stage. The band's natural ability shines - although this caliber of high-quality music has surly demanded fierce practice.  

I admire that Jones has been compared to Bonnie Raitt and Susan Tedeschi. She covers some of their songs, as well as covers of other artists.

The band also has plenty of original songs, such as "You Belong to Me," where Jones rocks the hell out of the keyboard while her band keeps the beat popping with bluesy riffs and a lean toward classic rock. 

Definitely worth mention is the lady's voice. (She won that award after all.) Jones seriously rips. Her voice is seasoned and twangy and gritty and lingering, at all the right times. She has strong control and timing and demands listener's attention, without taking away from the rest of the music.

The Stacy Jones Band rages through their songs with on obvious appreciation for the blues genre, while nodding at funk enough to be compared to Blues Traveler. The result is definitely agreeable to me. I'm sure The Stacey Jones Band will compliment my rounds of Maker's Mark just right. 

In addition to The Stacey Jones Band, Blues Redemption, House of Bourbon, The Muddy Sons, The Bill Mattocks Band and The Red Hot Blues Sisters will take the stage. The SSBA's Youth Showcase representative, Nolan Garret, will make an appearance during the event. There will be a raffle and a silent auction.
