Biography

In a rugged mountain town nestled deep in the heart of the North Cascades, the band Brownstar first formed. By forces to this day unknown, the four members of the new Brownstar, since March of 2007 have taken to writing hard driving scores of rock, with dabs of indie and pop magic scattered throughout. Brownstar's music, inspired by such bands as the Pixies, Incubus, Tool, and the harsh reality of life in the hills, attempts to touch both the most graceful and primal aspects of human expression. Running a close second to their musical prowess is undoubtedly their electric stage presence. Bassist for the well known New York band, The Antlers, as well as singer song writer for the up and coming indie power house, "Pet Ghost Project," Justin Stivers commented; "Brownstar's stage presence is comparable to the more entertaining bands on the New York rock circuit." "They strip the music down to its core and play it with passion just as Cobain and the boys did back in the day," the Weekly Volcano. Such a reaction is understandable considering the band's severe lack of stage fright and their unquenchable urge to rock. From the foothills of the North Cascades to the hustle and bustle of the world renowned rock city Seattle, Washington, Brownstar continues to impress all audiences who share the desire to rock. Within one year of residing in Olympia, Washington, Brownstar is already being booked by three different promotional companies along interstate 5: Fractured Industries, Extreme Promotions, and MO Management, and have played over 50 shows during 2008. They've played with Seattle's veteran rockers Superfekta, and the new national act LBC Sublime. As the momentum builds for these motivated artists, they continue to captivate crowds and cultivate an ever growing fan base with their primary focus on Seattle and Portland, and Vancouver BC. They just finished recording their first official album, JourneyQuest. They're about to record a song entitled "The screen" which will make its debut in a small mid-evil comedy film coming out in 2009. In short things are looking good for these boys and they're ready to level up. All the while never loosing site of their undeniable urge to rock.
