Portland trio Pierced Arrows will blaze through the Brotherhood Lounge in Oly tonight.

1. Ex-members of Dead Moon make up Pierced Arrows. A Pierced Arrows performance is a form of communion. They are there to see you just as much as you are to see them. You are not likely to find them cowering in a backstage corner. Though they are there to work, and work hard, don’t be surprised to find them hanging with friends and fans, checking out the opening act. 2. It’s an evening of Arts for Animals with a special performance of “Sylvia” that will benefit Coalition: HUMANE Spay & Neuter Clinic. You can bring your dog to the Tacoma Little Theatre to enjoy this warm comedy about a street-smart lab/poodle mix named “Sylvia”. Tickets are only $40 for one dog and one of his/her companions and $30 for one human. Doors open at 6 p.m. with curtain at 7 p.m. Call (253) 627-7729 for tickets. 3. Are your metaphors causing a meltdown? Need some starter fuel to set your stanzas aflame? Come ignite your poetic imagination at WRITE@253 and join poet, author of ‘The Vicissitudes’ and Tacoma’s Poet Laureate 2010-11, TAMMY ROBACKER, for a creative 4-Week Poetry Writing Workshop series. 4. Celebrate Grandparents Day by exploring the favorite wonders of the History Museum. Make a mummy mask, hunt for treasures, and discover the life and times of Ankh-Wennefer, the oldest Grandpa in town. 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Washington State History Museum, 1911 Pacific Avenue, Tacoma,(253) 272-3500.

5. Join in a new workshop led by glass artist Keke Cribbs. You will use colorful glass shards, stringers and frit to create a one-of-a-kind glass tile that can be used for a coaster. You design it and they’ll fire it for you! Workshops start on the hour (60 minute duration) Last session begins at 4 pm on Sundays. Suitable for ages 6 years and older.
