5 Things to Do Today: Scrabble, models, Pride, footy PJs

1. Word Nerds! Scrabble Sharks! Get ready for a new season of Scrabble Rousers, a competition suitable for all levels. Participants establish their own skill level: beginner, intermediate, or expert. People are paired off to battle it out in two successive, exceedingly fun games. Come ready to dominate the world or to thwart others from doing so! July's (optional) theme is Pirates! Dress to pillage (not the bookstore) and to strike fear into the hearts of landlubbers! Entrance fee is $15 per person with proceeds directly benefiting the Tacoma Community House Student Scholarship Fund, which assists students as they transfer from TCH to community college. 2. Come sketch from a live model! Easels will be provided but artists must bring their own materials. All skill levels are welcome. All skill levels are welcome. 3. Celebrate labor at Pride event. The Pierce County LGBT community is welcome to a reception in the main lobby of the IBEW 76 Hall. Labor leaders, union members, and elected officials from throughout Washington State will join us in honoring LGBT leaders within the union movement. 4. Speaking of Pride Week, A lesbian couple escape from their nursing home and head up to Canada to get married in the film CLOUDBURST. Starring Olympia Dukakis, the Grand proudly presents CLOUDBURST in cooperation with Tacoma's Pride Week! Join in for a discussion following the evening showing. 2 pm, 6:45 pm, 606 South Fawcett Avenue
