Downsizing" follows a kindly occupational therapist who undergoes a new procedure to be shrunken to four inches tall so that he and his wife can help save the planet and afford a nice lifestyle at the same time.
Matt Damon is in prime everyman mode as a good guy with a good heart who agrees to be shrunk to 5 inches tall as a way to reduce his environmental footprint - and enjoy a more luxurious life. At first a raucous comedy with some social commentary, director Alexander Payne's film loses its way for a while, and it feels as if we're being lectured a bit too much in the home stretch. - Three stars
