"The fact that children can make beautiful music is less significant than the fact that music can make beautiful children." - Cherly Lavender, composer

Ted Brown Music Outreach (TBMO) was introduced in 2007 by Ted Brown Music store in Tacoma, with the mission to provide children throughout the South Sound access to music through scholarships, instruments and education.

"We are trained to do something to help our community," says Randy Sparks, Ted Brown Music board member and TBMO spearhead. "This organization helps kids who want to play. It enhances their musical experiences."

Last year, the non-profit organization gave more than 80 instruments to kids in need.

This Sunday at Louie G's Pizzeria in Fife, TBMO is throwing a fundraiser and instrument drive. The event is all-ages, and features the Lush Tones, Sevens Revenge and two of TBMO's own Live Out Loud! alumni bands - Destination Unknown and A Fistful of Dollars. Northwest garage rockers Freddie & The Screamers featuring members from The Sonics and The Kingsmen will headline.

"Freddie can really put on a good show," says Sparks. "If you like rock 'n' roll, this is a show you've got to see."

"Everyone is really interested in helping out and are excited to play," adds Sparks. "They think it's a great cause."

Sparks also procured raffle and auction prizes, including a donation by the Seattle Seahawks - a Blue Thunder prize package for winner and guest that includes joining in pre-game festivities, sitting in the Blue Thunder perch and the chance to pound on the famed Rumble Drum. Other items include an ukulele size guitar autographed by Rolling Stone Top 100 named guitarist Jerry Miller, a Louiefest 2012 Swag Pack - including rare Moby Grape and Sonics memorabilia - and the Tacoma Rock-n-Roll Legends documentary. A silent auction will run through TBMO's Facebook page, and at the event.

All proceeds will go back to the program, and any instruments donated will be given a tune-up and a home. Sparks says they are especially in need of cellos and a xylophone.
