Your daily update on JBLM and the impacts of COVID-19.  Here is your March 28 update (based on JBLM releases - US Army Photo):

>> Pacific Pathways' movement of equipment has been cancelled for now - new decisions to be made in May for the future of that training.

>> The hotline for reporting issues is 253-967-3831.

>> The McChord ID Cards / DEERS office can only service Active Duty, Guard and Reserve Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard, and Marine personnel. All others are required to go to Waller Hall for these services.

>> The Nine-GATE PLAN GOES INTO ACTION MARCH 30: At 5 a.m. March 30, #JBLM will go into its nine-gate plan until further notice. Five of those gates will be open 24 hours. The remaining four gates will be open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.

At this time, there are no changes to base access policies.

The following are the hours of operation of the nine gates starting March 30 until further notice:
• Liberty, open 24 hours.
• Madigan, open 24 hours.
• Lewis North, open 24 hours.
• East Gate, open 24 hours.
• McChord Field Main, open 24 hours.
• DuPont, open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Logistics Center, open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Integrity, open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Barnes, open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The following gates will be closed until further notice:
• RCF, closed.
• Transmission Line, closed.
• D Street, closed.
• Woodbrook, closed.

>> The suspension of JBLM chapel services and programs is effective THROUGH 30 APRIL 2020. Additionally, due to elevated HPCON conditions, ALL chapel buildings and religious support facilities are closed to the public.

>> Madigan is moving to a no visitor policy. There will be very few exceptions. Patients, visitors and staff will be screened prior to entering the facility for any COVID-19 symptoms based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) screening criteria. Inpatient visitation at the hospital will be restricted from 8:00a.m. - 7:00p.m., 7 days-a-week.
Staff will ask visitors to start packing up their items for exit around 6:30p.m., to ensure they can exit no later than 7:00p.m. through designated Madigan exits. Visitors should use the most direct routes when traveling to their destination and exiting the facility.

Visitors under the age of 18 or over the age of 60 will not be permitted.

Limited entry points: We want Madigan’s patients to be aware, the following entrances are the only points of access to enter the facility at this time: The Main Hospital Tower entrance at the flag pole is accessible 7 days-a-week from 6:00a.m. – 7:00p.m., the Main Medical Mall entrance (near the Main Outpatient Pharmacy) is accessible Monday-Friday, 6:00a.m. – 7:00p.m., and the Southwest entrance is open 24/7. Please note, patients seeking emergency medical treatment in Madigan’s Emergency room can still directly access our emergency room.

Visitors:
• Patients admitted to Labor and Delivery (L&D) may have one adult partner present throughout their stay until discharge. Patients needing to be seen in Labor and delivery triage are encouraged to call 253-968-1535 prior to arrival.
• The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) will allow 1 parent in the unit once a day at this time.
• Pediatric patients under age 18 may have one parent or guardian at a time. Parents that need and exception to this policy must speak with their healthcare provider ahead of time to be escorted into the facility.
• Patients with disruptive behavior for whom a family member is key are limited to one visitor (5 North or Pediatrics/4 North).
• Visitors of patients who are at the end-of-life may will be met at the door and escorted to the patient’s room.
• Patients undergoing an emergency surgery or procedure, may have one visitor who must leave the hospital as soon as possible after the surgery/procedure.

Appointments:
• Patients who have an appointment in an outpatient clinic, laboratory, or radiology needing physical or medical assistance may have one person assisting them to and from the appointment.

Emergency Room visitation:
Visitors of patients in the Emergency Room must follow the guidance from the Emergency Room staff.
Madigan’s Provost Marshal’s Office will be notified of anyone not following the rules for visitation.

>> (From Madigan) Madigan’s Main Outpatient Pharmacy in the Medical Mall & the inside Refill Window at Madigan has been CLOSED until further notice.

At this time, the ONLY point of service available at The Madigan Main Outpatient Pharmacy is the Drive-Thru Window from: 5:00a.m.–9:00p.m. Monday- Friday, and 9:30am-4:30pm on Saturday.

Pharmacy refills are filled by calling the automated refill line at 253-968-2999. Prescriptions will be ready in 3 days. This is mandatory for all refill orders.

Despite making every effort to minimize the impact to our patients, unfortunately wait times at the Madigan Drive-Thru are still expected to be several hours.

>> Updates on base closures:

America's Credit Union: Lobby doors will be locked to minimize contact. Drive up windows are open during normal business hours, and ATMs are available for withdrawal and deposits.  If you still need assistance, knock on the lobby door and an employee will speak with you.

Armed Forces Bank: Closed except for merchant deposits and change orders.  Certain client transactions may occur as well, but as an exception.

Lewis Main: Drive-up teller windows are open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Lewis North: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays
McChord Field: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays 

Barber Shops: All barber shops and salons on JBLM are closed until further notice.

Chaplain's Office: All JBLM chapel services, religious education events and auxiliary meetings are canceled through the end of March. For more information, click here.   

Child and Youth Services: CYS has suspended care at Child Development CentersSchool-Age Centers and Family Child Care homes. Madigan Child Development Center and Lewis North School Age Center are operating for designated mission essential personnel only. Please click here for the complete closure plan and implementation dates. Suspended until further notice: Hillside Youth Center, Youth Sports, Raindrops and Rainbows and Escape Zone. Washington state schools are closed March 17 to April 24, subject to extension. DPW Housing Services Office : Services only telephonically or through email/website; no walk-ins

DPW O&M : Customer Service Desk services only telephonically or through email/website; no walk-ins

DPW O&M : Shops are responding only to Priority 1, emergency, and Priority 2, urgent, Project Work Orders (PWO) and Demand Maintenance Orders (DMO) called in.  Priority 3, routine, PWOs and DMOs are deferred for now.

Earthworks: Closed until further notice and no longer disbursing or accepting material.

Education Centers: The Stone Education Center, McChord Field Education Center and Hawk Education Center are closed. 

Exchange facilities and concessions: McChord Field businesses closed until further notice: Optical Shop, Optometry, Simply Perfect Nails, Flower Shop, Hair Studio, Best Eyebrows and Sushi Teriyaki.

Lewis Main businesses closed until further notice:  Optical Shop, Madigan Optical Shop, Optometry, Sushi Teriyaki, Lock and Leave, Hair Studio, Flower Shop, Madigan Flower Shop and Best Eyebrows.  QDOBA open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.  weekdays, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekends. Auntie Anne’s open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

1st Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division Subway closed until further notice; Lewis North Arby’s 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays; Madigan Einstein’s 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting March 23; Madigan Subway 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Fitness Centers on JBLM: All fitness centers on JBLM are closed until further notice.

Food service:  Warrior Zone, Bowl Arena Lanes, Sounders Lanes, Habanero Mexican Grill and Sam Adams at Eagles Pride Golf Course are closed to sit-and-eat service. Food service operations at these locations will continue for TO-GO ORDERS only. Credit card payments only.

WARRIOR ZONE CAFÉ food service: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 10 a.m. to midnight Friday-Saturday.  253-477-5833.

GO Lewis-McChord Transit Shuttle: Not operating until further notice. 

Harborstone Credit Union: Drive-up window is available 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Service is available inside lobby by appointment only from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lewis Army Museum: Closed to public until April 15.  Click ? here to experience the museum online. 

Lewis-McChord Communities: All community centers are closed. Playgrounds are open; play at your own risk. For more information, visit LMC online by clicking ? here

Libraries: All libraries on JBLM are closed until further notice. 

Motorcycle Safety Classes: Canceled until further notice.

Outdoor Recreation: Recreation locations, including MWR Ranges, are closed. Reservations for the next two weeks are canceled and refunds will be issued. Online reservation system for campground, cabins and equipment rental is shut down for two weeks.

Recycling Centers: All JBLM Recycling Centers are closed until further notice. 

Sports, Fitness & Aquatics: JBLM gyms and pools and the indoor rock wall at Adventures Unlimited are closed until further notice. This includes 24/7 gym access for registered patrons. Intramural sports, youth sports, bowling leagues and Kids' Climbing Club are canceled until further notice. 

Theaters on JBLM: All theaters on JBLM are closed. 

Trash & Recycling Pick-Up: Bulk pick up is suspended in housing, until further notice. Regularly scheduled trash and recycling pick-up will continue.

Veterinary Center: Closed for privately-owned animal care until further notice. Authorized exceptions include pre-approved international health certificates and existing prescription refills. Call 253-982-3954 to refill your pet's medication. 

CANCELED/POSTPONED EVENTS & PROGRAMS:

>> For services such as medical, ID cards and others, it is recommended people call first, rather than show up due to social distancing requirements, lower mannings, etc.

>> While many services are currently closed, the following are open: The Post Offices, Commissaries, PX/BX,

>> While the Child Care Centers are open only to essential personnel, in home daycares are open on base. Some have closed, and more are needed. Information is available at MilitaryChildCare.com.

>> All non-essential and DoD employees will continue to receive their pay. DoD employees should check with supervisors, all military should stay home. George said all military personnel should be receiving regular updates from their command.

>> Promotion boards are being handled virtually.

>> Military, families and retirees should only contact the clinic they are normally seen at – do not try to visit or call another clinic. For example, the McChord Clinic is only responding to McChord Clinic patients, etc.

>> There is no indication when a resupply of toilet paper will arrive on base. Both the commissaries and PX/BX are receiving two to three shipments a week, hoever, supplies are determined at the national supply chain level.

>> Take out will remain open in base. Food trucks will also stay open, however as private contractors some may choose to close.

>> The IG Hotels will charge based on the rank and BAH rates. This is not retroactive so those in hotels should contact the front desk immediately.

>> Movers will be allowed access to the base if you have household items arriving.

>> With barber shops closed, personnel are not required to meet hair grooming standards at this time. Once re-opened, personnel will be alloted time to get back to regs.
