Support local vendors and the Lewis Community Spouses’ Club

By Marguerite Cleveland on October 25, 2018

The Lewis Community Spouses' Club (LCSC) is hosting their annual Holiday Market Saturday, Nov. 3, at Lakes High School. The halls of the high school come alive with lots of vendors selling handmade crafts, stocking stuffers, Christmas and home décor, wreaths, candles, jewelry and clothing. Look for your favorite Direct Sales vendors.

"We are excited to hold our annual Holiday Market at Lakes High School again," said Jamie Lynn Blum, LCSC President. "Admission is free this year. We are hoping to have almost double the amount of vendors as last year with more crafters and a few food vendors."

Many of the vendors participating in this event have no affiliation with the military but wanted to support a military spouse group with their vendor's fees.

"I decided to join this event because I wanted to find out how I could help military spouses and their families in some way, shape or form, and this event provides me an avenue to do just that," said Davina Mcintosh, Psalm 91 Bag Solutions, Independent Senior Consultant for Thirty-One Gifts. "My mission for this event, and any others that I participate in, is to celebrate, encourage and reward them for who they are. Spouses and families of our servicemen and women are, in my opinion, the true unsung heroes, and I believe they deserve to be treated to a unique shopping experience that is not only fun, but empowering for all of us that participate; vendor and customer alike. For me, it's not just about selling a bag or a home accessory. It's about building a lasting relationship with the military community outside the gates of JBLM."

The LCSC Board has all hands on deck for this event to help make it a success. The volunteering has its rewards with opportunities to shop throughout the day.  "I am looking forward to shopping and seeing what the local vendors have to offer this year. A great opportunity to also check out direct sales vendors, too," said Kathy Oroho, Membership Chair, LCSC.

The Holiday Market is the premier fall fundraiser for the LCSC. In addition to its fun social activities and subclubs, the LCSC raises money throughout the year to provide community grants and scholarships to military family members. The LCSC is a volunteer run, nonprofit, all ranks, spouses group at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. They are dedicated to giving back to soldiers, their families, and community. Membership is open to all spouses of active-duty, Reserve, National Guard and retired personnel of the Armed Forces. Theye are also honored to extend membership to Gold Star spouses.
