If you're a military member or veteran and you're looking for a deal on a motorcycle in western Washington, head straight to Northwest Harley-Davidson (NWHD) in Lacey.  The motorcycle dealership is determined to give servicemembers a VIP motorcycle buying experience like no other, the minute a servicemember or veteran walks through the showroom doors from the moment they take off on their new motorcycle.

The dealership cultivates that VIP experience through its Military Sales Program, which offers servicemembers and veterans a combination of exclusive financing, discounts and deals on new and used motorcycles, parts and gear.

"With the Military Sales Program, our goal is to help serve the men and women who serve in the Armed Forces as best we can," said Kyler Locke, marketing manager at NWHD. "We try to make it very feasible for anyone in the military to come by Northwest Harley-Davidson and buy a motorcycle."

Components of the Military Sales Program include special financing for active-duty personnel, double loyalty reward points on qualifying purchases for servicemembers and veterans, lifetime powertrain warranties that travel with military members from one duty station to the next, and free demo rides at the NWHD showroom.

"We have a great program here and we want to stand out above everyone else," said Locke, who has been with NWHD for over a year. "A lot of military members don't get paid as much as they should, so everything helps -- especially for lower enlisted men and women who want a Harley-Davidson (bike) but owning one is out of their (financial) range. If they come to NWHD, we'll try our best to get them the best rate possible and to get them on the bike they want."

In addition to the Military Sales Program, which has been in place since NWHD opened in 1994, the dealership also takes pride in hiring veterans. Currently, there are at least 10 veterans working at the showroom.

NWHD is also an active member of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), and frequently supports veteran organizations by allowing them to hold events at the showroom. At most of those events, NWHD donates motorcycle gear and accessories for raffles and auctions or sells bikes to be used as auction items at highly discounted prices.

"We hold a lot of events geared towards military," said Locke. "JBLM is our neighbor, so we try to be a part of that military community and take care of the people there as much as we can."

The next event held at NWHD in support of the military community is the Annual Bike Show for Vets, happening July 14. The event is hosted by Joint Services support -- Washington & Warborn M/C and features a bike show with awards for Best in Show, Custom Paint, Custom Classic, Custom Sport and Rat Bike categories. A 2018 Iron 883 Harley-Davidson motorcycle will be raffled off during the event. There will also be food, drinks and live music throughout the festivities.
