Military spouses and female troops will be honored Sunday at the Capital Mall in Olympia with free pampering services, mall military discounts and fashion shows featuring military families.

Sponsored by USAA and presented by The Ranger, NW Airlifter and JBLM Living newspapers, the day is designed to honor spouses and troops for their service with free services to include hair styling and cuts, massage, acupuncture, photo head shots, facials, psychic readings, tarot cards, hand treatments and other skin services.

"Local businesses and organizations will be on-hand to offer these free services," said Ken Swarner, publisher.  But there is also a desire for the merchants in the mall to show military families their military discounts which range from 10 to 25 percent off during the day."

Fashion shows featuring models from military families start at 11 a.m. and end around 4 p.m.  Walking down the runway will be kids and adults, all ages and sizes showing the new fall fashions from Macy's, JCPenney, Bow & Arrow, Children's Place, Justice and many more.

"It will be fun to see our military families, as young as toddlers walking the runway," Swarner said.

In addition, families can win door prizes by RSVPing to attend, plus other prizes handed out at the mall to include restaurant gift certificates, tickets to the zoo, concerts and more.

"We couldn't do this without local business support," Swarner added. "They will be on-hand to talk about their businesses, too. Without them, we couldn't offer the free services."

The Ranger and their partner USAA put on 14 free military support events around the area each year.  Recently, they joined forces with the Navy League to present a fun day at Cheney Stadium, and before that, they offered an inflatable water park party in Bremerton.
