Great news for every Disney and amusement park fan out there: the military discount has been extended! Available for theme park tickets and resort rooms, the brand has renewed its Armed Forces Salute for another year. The program has been in place since 2009 and was implemented at the start of the economic downturn.

With this special salute pricing, active-duty servicemembers and their families can gain access to serious discounts and save significantly on multi-day and overnight trips. Discounts are also available for reservists and retirees.

Because the Armed Forces Salute is a yearly renewal, much of the military community sits on the edge of its seat waiting for an announcement. Terms and prices can also change, meaning there are new logistics for each season. However, 2018's discount extension was renewed well before the end of the year, allowing more families to plan next year's vacations at an earlier date.

Prices and Dates
The most popular option comes with park hopper tickets, which allow holders to "hop" from day to day and/or from park to park.

Head to Disney World in Florida with a four or five-day park hopper admission. When purchased on or before Dec. 15, prices are $246 (plus tax) for a five-day ticket (regular price is nearly $450). Visits are good between Jan. 1 and Dec. 19, 2018. A four-day Armed Forces Salute park hopper ticket costs $226 with the same terms.

Park Hopper Plus options (which include admission to Disney's water parks) can be added for an extra $40 per ticket.

Disneyland in California offers a similar deal. Here, guests can plan for three- or four-day trips, with the option to purchase between Nov. 1, 2017, and Dec. 16, 2018. Three-day tickets are $168, and four-day tickets are $188 -- they can be used between Jan. 1 and March 22, 2018 and from April 9 to Dec. 19, 2018.

Book your stay with Disney and earn 30 to 40 percent discounts on your entire bill. Rates are subject to availability but are good at several locations. Speak with someone at your installation's leisure travel office about booking your stay, or call or go online for more information. Some locations do come with minimum stays, so be sure to coordinate with busy seasons before blocking off dates.

Extra Magic Hours
Staying in a Disney hotel means you can get into the park early or stay late on select dates. Check your travel dates to see just how much time you can tack on with your favorite park. These Extra Magic Hours have a schedule with each location.

Disney also offers military discounts on its cruise line. Check travel dates for specific discounts. Each deal varies based on the ship, time of year, and amount of open slots. Each sale is usually announced 30-60 days in advance, allowing those with flexible schedules a chance at incredible deals.

Families are limited to six tickets at the discounted rate, and deals are not available with other promotions. Disney can also block off busy or booked dates, requiring only full-price admissions during those times.
