With the summer winding down and the first day of school right around the corner, thoughts turn to the fall. Whether you are a military spouse new to the area or maybe a retiree spouse looking for some fun activities, the Lewis Community Spouses Club (LCSC) has something for you.

Head over to the Sam Adam's Brewhouse on Joint Base Lewis-McChord Thursday, Aug. 31, to learn more about the exciting plans the LCSC has for the 2017-2018 club year.

"We are looking forward to kicking off a fantastic year of fellowship, service and fun. Our priority this year as a club is growing while fostering a sense of community among JBLM spouses," said Serena West, 2017-2018 LCSC president.

The LCSC Board will be at the event to welcome guests and provide LCSC information. Take the opportunity to register or renew your membership. Like all nonprofits, the club is always looking for volunteers, so check out the openings and see where your skills could be used. Local vendors will be available with both informational and shopping booths. Light appetizers will be served. The event is free and kid-friendly.

The 2017-2018 LCSC calendar is packed with events. In addition to its monthly luncheons, the club will host a mock dining-in and two major fundraisers for the club -- a bazaar and the annual auction.

One of the benefits of joining the LCSC is that you can join a SubClub such as the wine club, Pacific Northwest Explorers, Craft Club, Lunch Bunch and many more. The activities are very popular with LCSC members and gives them the opportunity to share like interests with their fellow spouses.

"Our hope is that the SubClubs offer everyone the opportunity to pursue an interest, try something new, continue an old hobby, or simply socialize and connect with a fun group of military spouses. We are open to adding more clubs and look forward to seeing the talents and interests of this year's members," said Leslie Platz, SubClub manager.

LCSC membership is $25 annually and can be purchased online or at the event. The LCSC is a volunteer run, nonprofit, all-ranks spouses group at JBLM. They are dedicated to giving back to soldiers and their families. Membership is open to all spouses of active-duty, Reserve, National Guard and retired military personnel. The club is honored to extend membership to Gold Star spouses as well.
