Someone once said, "A house is not a home without a pet," and I tend to agree. Throughout my childhood, my family owned several different dogs and the occasional cat, and over the years we cared for more than our share of rescues and strays. It was almost as if the homeless pets of the county knew that our house was the place to come for a bowl of kibble, a warm, soapy bath, and a pet-down from a couple of kids who loved nothing more than to toss a stick or a ball and just generally love on and be loved by a friendly dog or cat.

These days, as a parent myself, I see the wisdom in what my parents did in allowing us to own and care for so many animals. Not only did we learn about unconditional love with those animals, but we also learned real responsibility. Pets require a lot of care, and nothing in a kid's life can teach them that responsibility quite like a dog or a cat whining to be fed or barking at the door to be taken out for a walk. My kids are learning just like I did what it means to be completely responsible for a pet, and a big part of that is learning about all the supplies you need to keep your pet happy and healthy.

Luckily in our community, Farmland Pets and Feed, located on the corner of Silverdale Way and NW Byron Street in Old Town Silverdale, is a one-stop shop for all your pet needs. Whether you are a dog or cat owner, enjoy fish or reptiles, or are looking to add a chicken coop to your urban homestead, Farmland Pets has everything you need to get started and keep your pets happy and healthy. Throughout a maze of aisles you'll find a wide variety of supplies for your pets whether they are furry, scaly, or feathery in nature. From dog leashes to kitty condos to chicken coops, saddles and riding equipment, Farmland Pets sells it all.

If you're still looking for that perfect pet, Farmland Pets can help you there, too. Stop in for a visit and a cuddle with kennels of sweet, furry puppies, kittens and other furry friends, or wander the aisles of aquariums filled with fish, snakes and turtles. Baby chicks are also available for sale through September. The Farmland Pets staff is knowledgeable in the care and keeping of all their animals and eager to help you find the perfect pet for your home as well as everything you need to take good care of your Fido or Fifi.

Farmland Pets and Feed has been family owned and operated for nearly 40 years and continues to serve our community from the big red barn in Old Town Silverdale. Stop by today and see how Farmland Pets and Feed can meet all your pet needs.
