Modern, funny, sexy and strong are a few words that fans have used to describe Katie Kenyhercz's literary series Las Vegas Sinners. The Sinners NHL Hockey Team takes center stage in Kenyhercz's hockey romance novels. Her soon-to-be-released fourth book, Home Ice, focuses on the character of Dylan, the NHL's youngest captain, and Lorelei, an injured Olympic ice skater. With a strong female lead and well-thought out characters, this book promises to be just as great as the previous efforts in her series. Kenyhercz's first book, On the Fly, was her thesis while in college and was accepted by a publisher before she graduated.

What made her decide to become a romance writer? Kenyhercz said she began reading romance novels in her early 20s and decided that most novels available weren't all that great.

"I hated the prim and proper fake voice," she said. "I thought I could do better."

That's when she began writing books she wanted to read and decided to combine her passions of ice hockey and romance into novels.

"Everyone always said to write what you love. I'm a hopeless romantic who loves hockey, so there you go," she said.

Why Vegas? Kenyhercz has only been to Vegas once, as a teenager, but decided it would make the perfect setting as the main city in her novels.

"Las Vegas is a very dynamic city, but also there have been talks of putting an NHL team in Vegas for years; there isn't one currently," she said. "I wanted to be able to mention other real-world teams alongside mine, and Las Vegas has been really fun, like a character in itself. There's so much trouble for my characters to get into."

As a military spouse, it can be difficult finding a portable career. That's why Kenyhercz is happy to have found the perfect fit for the military life.  She's part of a group called "Romance Writers of America," and because it has chapters all over the country, she can be part of a dynamic group of writers wherever she may move.

"Being a writer means I can do what I do wherever the Air Force sends us," she said. "Because I'm a member of the Romance Writers of America, it also means I'll have built-in friends in every new city."

Home Ice will be available in e-book format everywhere e-books are sold beginning June 29, and in Print on Demand a few weeks afterward from Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
