City University of Seattle was recently honored for offering one of the top 50 Best Online Bachelor's Programs in the nation.

"U.S. News & World Report announced its annual rankings ... and City University of Seattle was ranked in the nation for the sixth consecutive year, placing at 31," stated a press release from the university.

"In addition, CityU was the only private university in Washington State ranked in the top 50 this year."

This bodes well for JBLM, as the school has a site located in the Stone Education Center.

"CityU has a military team dedicated to serving our military and veteran students," Lana Lee, senior director of military and community college relations, wrote in an email.

"These individuals have a special place in their hearts to serve this student population as they have either served themselves or have had family members serve."

Established in 1973 as City College by Dr. Michael Pastore, its mission is to provide higher education for working adults. Over the years, CityU has expanded its locations worldwide and negotiated partnerships with other educational institutions to offer certificate and degree programs.

A private, nonprofit university, City University of Seattle is headquartered in the Belltown area of Seattle and has 27 campuses around the world. The CityU campus at JBLM opened in 2016, and it offers an array of undergraduate and graduate degrees.

According to US News & World Report, the majority of CityU's students are working professionals in their 20s to 40s looking to advance in or change their careers.

"The flexibility of our online programs makes it possible for working adults to return to school," wrote Randy Frisch, president of CityU, in a press release.

The university offers online bachelor's degrees in subjects including management, cyber security, applied psychology and project management.

CityU also offers discounted military tuition and veterans scholarships and works with organizations that provide servicemembers with support in order to succeed while attending school.

With regards to those who have left the military, the institution was named the 26th best school in offering online bachelor's programs for veterans.

"Servicemembers and their families can expect to work with advisors who understand and who care about their success," continued Lee. "We have a special military team who is ready to share how CityU can get them started on the educational goals and work with them until they finish. We are all about the finish!"

In addition to the online bachelor's programs, CityU was ranked in US News & World Report's Best Online MBA Programs for the fourth year in a row, and the school is also ranked among the Best Online Graduate Business Programs and Best Online Graduate Information Technology Programs.
