There is now no excuse for reneging on your New Year’s resolution to get healthy or stay fit.

Joint Base Lewis-McChord is offering its 2017 Fitness Resolution Fair, an opportunity to sample free fitness classes at Wilson Sports and Fitness Center Saturday from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

In addition to a chance to participate in Zumba, yoga, MixxedFit and spin classes, local health vendors will provide information booths and various prize drawings. A local chiropractor will offer chiropractic screening and a nutrition vendor will provide information about supplements and the first 200 participants at the event will receive a free LifeFitness T-shirt.

Last year, nearly 200 people participated, many of whom said they were enlightened by the many opportunities available, such as lifting weights or using available treadmills and cardiovascular machines.

Aaron Jones, JBLM’s director of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation’s Sports, Fitness and Aquatics, said the event is awesome and provides JBLM folks a chance to try out the fitness class offerings at the installation.

“This is the second year we’ve done the Fitness Resolution Fair, and it’s a great chance for people to get out of the house and enjoy camaraderie,” Jones said.

Jones has been at JBLM for about two years and brought with him the

idea for the event, which he had directed in previous years at other installations.

Before the fair’s inception, JBLM offered an Aerobathon, which was primarily geared to those interested in aerobic activities.

“The (Fitness Resolution Fair) offers more for people interested in other sports goals and resolutions,” Jones said.

Participants should wear comfortable workout gear and be a part of at least two classes to be eligible for the prize drawings at the end of the event. Last year, Jones said many participants expressed interest in the programs and had a great time.

“This is a great way for people to see what’s out there and if it fits with their resolutions,” he said.
