Join us for a FREE Salute to Military Holiday Party

By Claire Nunn on November 16, 2023

Join Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, Barbie and Ken for a FREE Salute to Military Holiday Party, presented by Northwest Military at Capital Mall in Olympia. This day will be all about honoring military families and their sacrifice while having a merry time. The party will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18 at Capital Mall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event runs open house style, so stop by anytime!

However, we recommend coming early, because families who attend will be able to stop by First Command's booth and pick up a free ticket for Fantasy Lights in Spanaway (while supplies last).

After you pick up your free Fantasy Lights ticket, families can expect to be fully immersed in a merry day full of holiday cheer. FREE holiday activities will include making your own snowflake wand, grinch bracelets, and ornaments and stockings.

Free face painting and balloon artists will also add to the magic of the day

Not only will families be able to participate in the above activities free of charge, there will also be photo opportunities galore. Frozen characters Elsa, Anna, Olaf and Kristoff will be making their rounds to take pictures with everyone at no charge. Barbie and Ken will be with the mall's professional Santa, and families will have the opportunity to take photos with Santa, Barbie and Ken and purchase for a holiday keepsake.

"A number of local businesses are joining the day, too, bringing fun giveaways and prizes for local military kids," said Ken Swarner, publisher of The Ranger and Northwest Airlifter. "We all are passionate about showing local military families that the community understands their hardships - we want to say thank you by giving them some fun family things to do."

We look forward to kicking off the holiday season with the arrival of Santa to the mall and activities with all your favorite Frozen characters.
