Join us for a FREE Salute to Armed Forces Family Day, presented by StationedAT JBLM and sponsored by Grand Canyon University, to honor military families and their sacrifice. The party will take place on May 14 in the DuPont ACU parking lot from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
When we say the entire family, we mean fido too! Dogs are welcome at the event and we even have some booths tailored to them. Please note that all dogs will need to be properly picked up after, and must be well mannered with other dogs and humans.
Plus, the Auburn Valley Humane Society will be giving away 20 free spay/neuter vouchers and 15 microchip vouchers.
Fun filled family activities for all will also be part of the day. Pierce County Fair will be bringing a petting zoo with horses, goats, dogs and piglets. Olympia Barber College will be onsite offering FREE kids' haircuts.
The Buffalo Soldiers will be bringing their traveling museum and two to five soldiers. They will also be bringing their horses on site, with options for kids to take a horse ride.
Take a swing at putt putt golf to add to the fun and meet and take pictures with the Daffodil Queen and princesses.
Akasha Aerial Arts will be doing on-site performances, as well as onsite mini lessons and hula hooping. The perfect time to take in a breathtaking show, or even get a chance for the little ones to try out a small piece of aerial art.
A kids archery station will be onsite to give kids their best shot at hitting a "bullseye."
FREE donuts from Lakewood's Original House of Donuts will be available for a sweet treat!
"A number of local businesses are joining the day, too, bringing fun giveaways and prizes for local military kids," said Ken Swarner, publisher of The Ranger and NW Airlifter. "We all are passionate about showing local military families that the community understands their hardships - we want to say thank you by giving them some fun family things to do at no charge whatsoever."
