The Olympia region is a winter wander land for women to explore

By Experience Olympia on January 28, 2022

Winter is here. Whether you're looking to escape for the weekend with girlfriends, spend some quality time with mom or travel solo, the Olympia region is the perfect place to feel rejuvenated and relaxed after the holidays

Go slow with nature

Hike, run or snowshoe! Located in the Black Hills of Olympia, Capitol State Forest offers 110,000 acres of play space. If you time it right, you might have the chance to strap on snowshoes and tromp your way through wintery-white trails. But never fear, the woods beckon year-round and are stunningly lush when not covered in snow.

 Wind down with yoga

Spend a minute releasing stress in Shavasana ... or five. True Self Yoga offers over 50 classes each week and is sure to have a style that's right for your entire group. Choose from slow flow, yin flow, Hot Hatha and more. And if you're in the mood for some animal therapy, give goat yoga a try at Stone City Farm. You'll flow through Hatha and Yin poses, complete with plenty of goat snuggles.

Sip your way through winter

Refreshing brews and scenic adventures await! Explore Thurston County's 60-mile Bountiful Byway for a taste of handcrafted beer, wine and spirits. Visit the wide-open spaces by car or bus during winter. Come back in summer (May-September) to take advantage of free bike rentals from Tenino Yellow Bicycle Project. Is coffee more your thing? Get your caffeine fix with coffee tastings and cupping classes at a local roaster. Discover local roasters here https://bit.ly/3tPzEGJ

Feed your artful soul

Experience Olympia's wildly creative side. The heart of downtown beats to plays and musicals at the State Theater, home to Harlequin Productions. History comes alive in the Capitol Theater, operated by the Olympia Film Society. Prefer a slower pace? Take a self-guided tour of Olympia's one-of-a-kind murals or find a local piece of inspiration at several art galleries. Discover local galleries here https://bit.ly/3fL1go5.

Go cross-county shopping

Top off your winter getaway by perusing vintage boutiques and local quirky shops across the Olympia region. No skis required. Search for forgotten treasures in The Iron Works Boutique or uncover retro dresses at Hot Toddy. Belleza Ropa is a gem for eclectic clothing, and JZ Rose and Archibald Sisters are fun stops for gifts.
