The City of Lacey's annual Lighted Parade and Lighting of the Christmas Trees is back this year!

Since 1996, the City of Lacey has been celebrating the holidays with an old-fashioned Christmas tree lighting ceremony, and in most recent years, lighting up all of Huntamer Park in Woodland Square, for visitors to enjoy all season long.

In 2016, to celebrate the city's 50th anniversary, the first Lacey Lighted Vehicle Parade was added to the festivities and it was such a hit, that it became a permanent kick off to the tree lighting ceremony.

This year the 2021 Lighted Vehicle Parade presented by Interstate Batteries will kick off on Monday, Dec. 6 at 6:25 p.m. The parade travels north on Sleater-Kinney and down 7th Ave. SE as guests line up to watch a dazzling variety of lighted vehicles, including the Lacey Fire Department's Santa Mobile featuring Santa himself.  Last year due to COVID-19, the City of Lacey pivoted to provide a COVID-friendly celebration. Huntamer Park was lit-up in lights including an animated Santa flying through the sky. Families had the opportunity to visit Huntamer Park and enjoy holiday magic from the safety and comfort of their cars. Park visitors had the opportunity to tune their radio to the City of Lacey's radio station to enjoy stories told by Santa and holiday music provided by the River Ridge High School Band and the B.A.C.H. Musicians, a local homeschool choir.

This year the City of Lacey plans to provide all these things and more to celebrate the season in a big way.

Following the light parade on Dec. 6 will be the Lighting of Trees of Huntamer Park. Watch the park light-up for the season and visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Free hot cocoa will be provided while supplies last courtesy of Sun Break Baptist Church.

If you can't make it out on Dec. 6, or just want to pop back in throughout the remainder of the holiday season visitors have the opportunity to drive to Huntamer Park and tune your radio into the special holiday festivities. Music by local youth performers and stories read by Santa will be happening all season long.
