Join the fun at the Pierce County Fair

Plan a family day at the fair Aug. 12-15

By Claire Nunn on August 6, 2021

The Pierce County Fair is right around the corner, starting Thursday, Aug. 12 and running through Sunday, Aug. 15. After a year off with only a virtual event, it's exciting to get back in person for the fair's 74th year to smell the food vendors, pet the animals and scream on the rides.

Located at Frontier Park in Graham, a little over thirty minutes from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, it's the perfect place to spend the day as a family. Each day has a unique promotion. Thursday is Kid's Day with everyone ages 6-15 years old getting in for just $1. Thursday through Saturday disabled veterans get in for just $3. Sunday is Military Day with members of the Armed Forces with valid ID receiving free admission.

Regular admission to the fair is $7, and kids 6 years old and younger are always free. Your fair admission includes free attractions such as the Kids Pedal Tractor Pull and Wool Busters, Mutton Bustin' and Reptile Isle, which features a 300 lb. tortoise.

Other attractions such as a rock climbing wall, power jump, water balls, nine-hole mini golf, kids turbo obstacle and more will be available for purchase. Unlimited ride bracelets will be available to buy at the fair only.

A VR escape room is the newest attraction this year, which is a virtual escape room that is set inside a video game.

For the over 21 crowd a Paint and Sip is located in the beer garden at 5:30 p.m., Friday evening. Cost will be $40 and includes fair admission. Pre-registration is required and can be purchased online here https://bit.ly/37ufjKJ

The daily free entertainment line-up varies from a magician to a singing cowboy, from line dancing to the Olson Brothers Band, plus many other acts not to be missed. A full schedule of entertainment per day can be found here, https://bit.ly/3jdIEyr

Spend time visiting the various exhibits as well. Animal, floral, quilts, baking, photography and more will be available to browse through during your day or evening at the fair.

And of course it wouldn't be a fair without delicious food! A wide selection of tasty fair food will be available for purchase. The only problem will be choosing which food trucks to try.

Fair hours are Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It's important to note that most of the rides don't open until noon daily, except Sunday when they open at 11 a.m.
