The center re-opened early last month and is proud to offer its services in a new, elegantly appointed venue. Conveniently located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord on the shores of majestic American Lake, the facility offers a variety of rooms to accommodate small to large groups, a full event staff, innovative catering menus and much more. Outside, the center grounds boast stunning views of picturesque American Lake, beautiful gardens, a gazebo, a new boat dock and even a wood-burning fire pit.

What is the most special element of the center?

"Well, for me personally, from a facilities and logistics perspective, it's the new dumbwaiter we had installed," said Tammy Hite, American Lake Conference Center facility manager, with a laugh. "But really, it's that view, that gorgeous view of the lake."

Whether a client is seeking a place for the wedding of a lifetime, a poignant retirement party, an important business meeting or whatever his or her special events needs are, the American Lake Conference Center has something for everyone.

On-site banquet and meeting rooms include lakeside views, an atrium and ballrooms from 300 square feet to more than 9,000 square feet. The entire building is available for large parties and can accommodate approximately 1,200 people.

Room and facility rentals are available to the military community. Civilians can also participate in the rental process if they have a military sponsor.

Room rentals have two different pricing tiers. The first option (full-service rental) features a set price in which the event staff sets up the room on the client's behalf. With this option, the rental price includes table and chair set up, choice of linens, projector and screen for presentations, pads of paper and pens, water stations and Wi-Fi. There is also a special discount if food purchases reach a particular amount.

The second choice is that customers set up and clean up the room themselves, which reduces cost. Center staff would be available for consultation for this option and assist with providing items needed for rental (such as linens).

The center prides itself on its eclectic and exciting catering menu options, which embrace a number of different cuisines and culinary styles. Whether the event calls for an elegant buffet, a special ethnic cuisine or a casual meal, the culinary team at the American Lake Conference Center can make it happen. Meals can be served in multiple courses, buffet style, or boxed (for a lunch option, for example). Prices vary for the different meal plans and food styles.
