More than 750 Soldiers from the 42nd MP Brigade, 504th MP Battalion, 6th MP Group (Criminal Investigation Division), 508th MP Battalion, I Corps and others attended the 69th MP Ball Friday at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center. The evening's guest speaker was Brig. Gen. Colleen McGuire, the first female provost marshal general of the Army and commander of the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command at Fort Belvoir, Va. The event featured displays from various MP units, an MP video presentation, dinner, a punch bowl ceremony and music courtesy of the 56th Army Band.

The Ball was supported in part by the new Steilacoom Sub-Chapter of the Capt. Meriwether Lewis Chapter of the Association of the United  States Army. The money was used to pay for several soldiers and their guest who otherwise would not go due to the costs, as well as reduce the price for privates to specialists from $42 per plate to $20.

"This has been a great week for us as we celebrate our 69th MP Anniversary and we have been able to show a generation of soldiers and family members an important tradition that demonstrates the best about being part of the Army," said Lt. Col. Zane Jones, commander of the 508th MP Bn.
