Book Patch offers reading programs for babies all the way through late teens. Registration is on June 25, 2010. The kickoff starts July 1, 2010 and the program ends August 4, 2010. For all ages, the number of books read does not count. The minutes parents spend reading to younger children or the minutes older children and young adults spend reading are the way to earn points.

Book Patch also offers Story Time every Wednesday from 10:30-11:00 am. On Thursdays, from 2:00-4:00 pm there are activities for all ages. Now on the first Saturday of every month there is a new Story Time for children of all ages from 2:00-2:30 pm.

Pierce Country Library Branches offer Summer Reading 2010. They encourage all ages to join in and check out great books to read! For every 10 hours children and teens read they win prizes.

June 19-Aug 14: Children and teen summer events

June 19-Sept 3: Reading for prizes.

Children ages 3-12 sing songs, draw pictures and cartoons, see magic and puppet shows, make crafts, and have story time.

Teens ages 12-18 make crafts, compete in gaming and various events.

READ ON THE WILD SIDE

If you can't get out of the house to join the reading club events at least register for a library card. Then check out the fun and games online at Read on the Wild Side. There are games and activities for children 5-7, 7-10, 10 and older and adults.

MERRIAM-WEBSTER DICTIONARY AND THESAURUS

Another idea for summer challenges and spelling fun is to play learning games online at Merriam-Webster.
