OSC says "no experience necessary!"
Officers' Spouses Club has announced that there are approximately 21 positions about to be vacated on the OSC Board of Directors. Right now there are numerous possibilities for members and newcomers to get involved in a variety of areas.
Because directors serve one year on the board, there are open applications for the elected positions of President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Treasurer. Other appointed and honorary senior positions need include chair positions such as: Parliamentarian, Cottage, Membership, Publicity, Reservations, Soundings, Ways & Means, Welfare, Outreach, Bazaar, Hospitality, Volunteer Coordinator and Historian.
The Welcome Page of the OSC Web site states: "The present board will be accepting applications until March 15. The vote for the 2010-2011 Governing Board will be held April 20 at the OSC monthly luncheon."
On the Membership Eligibility and Application page of the OSC Web site there is an extensive list of eligibility requirements for officers' spouses, retirees, widows, dependents over 18, and so forth. You can follow the link for the membership application there, as well. The OSC, with members ranging in age from the early 20's to the late 80's, is always looking for new members.
The Web site is at www.fortlewisosc.org. Besides clubs for bowling, book club, bunko, quilting, running, scrapbooking, knitting, wine and gourmet, OSC is involved in community outreach. Through the Ways and Means Store and other projects the members earn money to help support the Fisher House, and donate welfare distribution funds for various organizations in need.
