Fort Lewis isn’t the only option for military members to explore when it comes to shopping.

McChord Air Force Base has a variety of specialty shops with unique items.

For those interested in preserving their military keepsakes and mementos, the base’s Arts and Crafts Center offers services and items to do just so. The center offers everything from engraving on small brass plates for flag cases to large multi-plate plaques, as well as custom embroidered shirts, hats, bags, car seat covers, towels and blankets. Customers can choose from thousands of stock designs or the staff can create custom embroidery.

The center offers various matting and framing supplies and services. The gift shop stocks plush C-17 Globemasters, C-17 shot glasses, wine corks, mugs, can cozies, magnets, laser McChord ornaments, military lapel pins, flag lapel pins, military coin holders, flag cases, and C-17 models.

The Arts and Crafts Center is located across from the Evergreen Inn and is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Over at the McChord Base Exchange, a new Game Stop store recently opened in the mall area to give customers even more product choices in addition to what the main Army and Air Force Exchange Service store offers, said Patrick McGhee, AAFES general manager. 

A Sephora full-service makeup counter opened recently, also located in the mall area.

The food court features leather couches and chairs in the Wi-Fi lounge area, as well as an enclosed children’s play area.

Customers visiting the B/X also have the option to get their car serviced at Firestone while they shop.

Firestone does everything from oil changes, brake repair, heating and cooling system maintenance and steering and suspension repair tune-ups to mounting and balancing tires, suspension and alignment and battery diagnostics and replacement.

“We do so much more than just tires,” said Daryl Sander, manager at the McChord location. “We can do all the maintenance and repairs together. We’re also state certified emission repair specialists, plus we offer a 10 percent military discount.”
