The Military Housing Assistance Fund (MHAF) provides home buying assistance and closing costs help to qualified veterans and Servicemembers, regardless of rank or branch of service.
A 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, MHAF expands housing opportunities for active duty military and veteran buyers by providing grants that don't need to be repaid-under any circumstances. The goal is to help those who want to buy a home but can't afford it because of all the additional fees and costs.
Statistics have shown that great majorities of military and veteran families do not own homes, said MHAF Director of Operations Errol Anderson, "We aim to change that."
Solely funded by contributions from private individuals and government entities, MHAF gives 100-percent donations to intended beneficiaries in an effort to promote home ownership. Grants help keep out-of-pocket costs such as moving expenses and other costs associated with purchasing a home at a minimum, and funds can be used in conjunction with Veteran Affairs loans and Federal Housing Administration loans.
The only requirement for a MHAF grant is qualification for a mortgage loan. Further, there are no administrative fees or cost to apply, no cost if approved, and no costs after the fact-there are no hidden fees whatsoever.
The MHAF website also provide listings for affordable homes for sale and rent, a section to ask questions about home loans and lenders, and veteran loan information and calculators.
