In and around Tacoma there are several Native American casinos. Of course, casinos are a great place to get your gamble, on whether that means hitting the tables or the slots. But local casinos also have great buffets, restaurants, clubs and lounges - and often entertainment. Casinos have developed into amusement parks for adults.
Here's a look at three within driving distance.
Emerald Queen Casino
The Emerald Queen Casino is Tacoma's preeminent gaming establishment, with two locations close to each other along Interstate-5. A shuttle runs between the two locations. The slots are plentiful and table games include Let It Ride, blackjack, craps and roulette. The majority of the casino is quite smoky, but there is a nonsmoking section, too. The only catch is that the nonsmoking section only has slots and video machines. One of the best aspects of the Emerald Queen is its International Buffet, which is well priced and has specialty nights like lobster on Wednesdays and Surf & Turf several nights a week. Keep an eye on the shows and concerts that come through the EQC, too, as it has a steady stream of headliners.

Muckleshoot Casino
The Muckleshoot is known as the biggest casino in the Northwest, and also has the biggest nonsmoking gaming section in Washington. The Players Club gets you points to redeem at the eight restaurants, gift shop and catalog, not to mention the nearby hotels. The buffet is great at the Muckleshoot Casino, and offers discounts for seniors and Muckleshoot Preferred Players Club members. Entertainment often revolves around Club Galaxy, which showcases bands and special events. The Muckleshoot does get some headliners, but not as many as the Emerald Queen.

Hawks Prairie Casino
If you're near Olympia, the Hawks Prairie Casino is the place to go - unless you're a slot fan, as there are no slots here, just table games galore. Daily poker tournaments, several poker games, baccarat, and more are all offered at Hawks Prairie. Also, unlike most other local casinos, Hawk's Prairie is perhaps known more for its food than its gaming. The Riverbend Restaurant has tasty, downhome food.
